Star Gazing at Cherry Springs State Park
To begin with some history about Cherry Springs State Park. Settled in about 1818 by Jonathan Edgcomb, he crafted a building, a log building, that came to be known as The Cherry Springs Hotel. Because of the remoteness, first guests were few and far between. Shortly later the lumber industry moved and proceeded to lumber off a significant amount of the out of the way hardwoods, together with hard wood cherry timber of which the park is known as.
Situated a few miles from our Coudersport Pa Hotel, to the south on Pa Rt 44 is Cherry Springs State Park. It truly is remote, isolated & untamed today as it was Two centuries earlier. * Be sure you dress warmly in the Spring, Fall & Winter months. It is a mountaintop and although day temperatures may be reasonable, evening time conditions will fall significantly. Bringing blankets as well as chairs are recommended.
